Discipline: Environmental Control/Life Support With over 50 years of experience with NASA spacesuit development and operations, as well as with U.S. Air Force pressure suits, Jim McBarron shared his significant knowledge about Space Shuttle Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) Spacesuit development. This included establishing the original NASA EMU Concept, Request for Proposal requirements, and contractor selection. He provided significant spacesuit development problems experienced and design changes implemented to establish the Shuttle EMU spacesuit baseline for initial Space Shuttle flights. He concluded by identifying noteworthy lessons learned.
