Lidar Sensing and Coherent Imaging Research in Montana

Abstract: Optics and photonics related research, primarily performed at Montana State University, Bozeman, MT, has focused on the development of novel lidar sensing modalities and coherent imaging techniques. This has resulted in the growth of lidar based companies in Montana, that develop products for a variety of applications ranging from self-driving cars to remote gas sensing. A brief preview of the evolution of lidar research in Montana as well the development of innovative applied research enabling commercialization will be presented.
